The School of Architecture and Landscape Design (SoALD) at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra was established in 2006 to offer high-quality education focusing on developing professionals capable of addressing the contemporary built environment challenges. Its curriculum blends theoretical knowledge with practical skills, emphasising innovative design solutions, sustainable practices, and the integration of architecture with the natural landscape. In its first year, SoALD welcomed a strong cohort of 40 students from across the country. The school is housed in a beautiful building designed by the faculty themselves, with state-of-the-art vibrant spaces, facilities and infrastructure, with in the serene SMVDU campus.
One of the Key strengths of the school is its highly qualified faculty who comes from premier Indian institutions and its diverse student’s body from all over India. Besides recognition to merge architectural education with the region’s unique cultural and geographical context, the school encourages student’s active participation in national and international competitions. Many of the students and faculty have earned numerous awards and accolades at national and international platforms. Many of the alumni consistently secured admissions for higher studies in world-renowned institutions like Bauhaus school of Architecture, Texas University, Harvard Graduate school of design, Columbia University, SPA’s, IITs and many more foreign institutions. The school of architecture actively promotes education, research, and consultancy, providing a holistic approach to both academic and professional growth. Apart from UG course, SoALD envisage to start multiple PG programs from session 2026-27.Know More
