Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), a leading academic institution, is home to a number of dedicated Research Centers, all focused on fostering a culture of groundbreaking research. These Centers, with significant funding from the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), have become the foundation of the University’s extensive research activities. Five key Research Centers, each specializing in unique areas of investigation, along with a state-of-the-art Bioinformatics Facility, serve as the bedrock of the University’s scientific pursuits. SMVDU thus remains at the forefront of academic research, contributing significantly to advancements in various fields of knowledge.
The Research & Development (R&D) Wing has been setup in the University to provide specialized administrative and managerial support for the operation of Sponsored Research Projects, Consultancy Jobs and other related R&D activities.

Within the short span of 15 years the faculty members and Schools of the University have been able to obtain Sponsored Projects from bodies like DST, UGC, AICTE, ISRO, DRDO, ICSSR, TEQIP-III etc. We have total 87 projects in SMVDU in which we have 57 closed Projects and currently we are working on 35 projects. Out of total number of Projects we have 34 Government Sponsored projects and 01 Industry Sponsored projects. Detailed list is given below:
Industrial consultancy is a significant area of activity of the Institute. The nature and extent of the industrial consultancy projects undertaken by the University is an index of its credibility with the industry and is symbolic of the relevance of a centre of excellence in the context of nation’s socio-economic development. We have 27 Consultancy Projects and the list is given below:
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) identifies Research as its ‘raison d’être’, or its most important reason for existence. Hence, a significant portion of the university’s infrastructure is devoted to fostering research work. Faculty members and Research Scholars diligently engage in high-end research activities spanning an array of fields. From Science and Engineering to Management and Humanities, every discipline at SMVDU is thoroughly explored and examined. The relentless pursuit of knowledge and the application of innovative solutions form the backbone of the research culture at SMVDU.
