In a significant academic engagement aimed at fostering entrepreneurial mindset among young engineers, Dr. Sanjay Mohan, CEO, SMVDU Technology Business Incubation Centre (TBIC) delivered an invited talk during a workshop on “Design Thinking, Critical Thinking & Innovation” organized by Government College of Engineering and Technology Jammu. Speaking on the theme “Innovation and Startup Ecosystems,” Dr. Mohan highlighted the transformative role of innovation-led entrepreneurship in strengthening the nation’s economic and social fabric. He explained how robust startup ecosystems encourage creativity, interdisciplinary collaboration, technology commercialization, and employment generation.
Dr. Mohan apprised the gathering about major startup initiatives of the Government of India such as Startup India, Atal Innovation Mission, and others, underlining their contribution in building a supportive environment for emerging entrepreneurs. He also elaborated on the recently launched Mission YUVA by the Government of Jammu & Kashmir and discussed its importance in empowering youth through financial assistance, mentoring support, skill enhancement, and enterprise creation within the Union Territory. He encouraged students to proactively leverage these schemes to convert innovative ideas into scalable ventures. Emphasizing the broader vision of nation-building, Dr. Mohan described entrepreneurs as architects of societal transformation who not only generate employment but also address pressing social challenges through innovative and sustainable solutions.
The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members and students of GCET Jammu and concluded with an engaging interaction on startup opportunities, incubation support mechanisms, and pathways for aspiring innovators. The workshop served as a meaningful platform to inspire students to integrate design thinking and critical thinking with entrepreneurial action for creating real-world impact.
