SMVDU Katra, April 2019. The inter-house Kabaddi and Kho-Kho tournaments of ‘SARANG’ 2019 under men and women categories respectively, came to an end at the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra. Five houses, namely Aakash, Agni, Jal, Prithvi and Vayu participated with great enthusiasm and fervour in the tournament under both Men and Women Categories. The matches were played in the knock out basis in the preliminary phases which were followed by semi-finals and finals. In an exciting contest which witnessed an enthusiastic participation, the Prithvi team went on to register a fantastic win over the fiercely competitive Vayu team in Kho Kho (Women), whereas in another nail biting final that took place today itself, the Vayu men proved themselves by defeating the Jal team with a final score of 48-45 in Kabaddi. The tournaments were successfully coordinated by the student coordinators, Rahul Sharma and Anmol Sharma; the matches were officiated by Mr. Sucha Singh, Mr. Sumit Sharma and Mr. Balbir Singh. Dr. Ashutosh Vasishtha, senior faculty member, SMVDU, graced the finals along with Mr. Rajiv Kumar, Incharge Sports, Mr. Surender Singh, CSO, Dr. Kamaldeep, Mr. Mithun Assistant CSO, SMVDU. The winners were also facilitated by the guests who not only congratulated them for their laudable performances but also encouraged them to sharpen their skills and talents for the future endeavours.
