SMVDU Girl Students embark on Educational Venture (Gyanodaya Express)

In a momentous event, Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor, Shri Manoj Sinha flagged off the ‘Gyanodaya Express – College on Wheels’ train from Katra Railway Station on Sunday. The train is a unique initiative aimed at transforming education, has onboard 700 girl students from various universities across the Union Territory, including 40 enthusiastic students from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU). The expedition seeks to break down the traditional barriers of classrooms and academic disciplines, fostering immersive, collaborative, and project-based learning experiences. Amidst a delightful breakfast gathering at his residence, Prof. Pragati Kumar, the Vice Chancellor of SMVD University, inspired the participating students, to embrace this opportunity fully. He encouraged them to gain invaluable experiences by exploring new areas, diverse cultures, and interacting with individuals from various backgrounds. The girls from SMVDU will be actively engaged in seven different projects spanning the domains of consumer behavior, internet of things, science, humanities, and social sciences. The primary aim of this initiative is to expand the scope of education, fostering increased confidence, curiosity, and independence in girls. Dr. Sharada M. Potukuchi, the liaison officer of College on Wheels JKGE, along with Dr. Raghvendra Kumar Mishra, Dean of Students, are accompanying the SMVDU students on this enriching expedition with enthusiasm and care. As the students traverse various destinations like Parliament house and President house in New Delhi, Sabarmati ashram, places of importance in Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Goa, Bengaluru and Wardha, they will have the unique opportunity to interact with people, gaining insights into the life of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. Gyanodaya stands as an innovative and noble project, aiming for the comprehensive empowerment of girl students, providing them with real-world experiences that go beyond traditional academic boundaries.
