Katra: A 3- Day long Virtual International Tribology Research Symposium on the theme “Impact of Tribology on Society” was inaugurated today here at SMVDU. The event is being jointly organized by School of Mechanical Engineering SMVD University, Centre for Advanced Studies, Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow and SRM University Chennai. The prominent guests who spoke on the inaugural function include Prof. Manish Gaur (Director CAS-AKTU Lucknow), Dr. Ashok Mehta (Executive Director, Tribology Society of India), Prof. Satish V. Kailas, IISc Bangalore (Vice President, Tribology Society of India), Prof. Salmiah Kasolang, Rektor, Universiti Teknologi Mara (President, Malaysian Tribology Society), Prof. Ali Erdemir (Texas A&M University). Prof. Sandeep Sancheti(Vice Chancellor, SRMIST) graced the occasion and spoke about the importance of tribology, its interdisciplinarity and its role in making the planet greener and cleaner. As briefed by the conveners of the conference Dr. Anuj Kumar Sharma (CAS AKTU Lucknow) and Dr. Mir Irfan Ul Haq (SMVDU) the symposium shall host 07 keynote lectures, 18 invited talks and 21 parallel sessions in which around 220 papers shall be presented. Moreover, the event shall see a global participation from countries such as USA, Mexico, Japan, UK, Italy, France, Malaysia, Hungary, Indonesia, and Saudi Arabia etc., besides scholars and experts from institutes of national importance such as IISc Bangalore, IITs, NITs, Premier Research Labs. and industries. Selected papers presented in the symposium shall be published in 5 Special Issues and 4 Regular Issues in Reputed SCI/Scopus Journals like Tribology International, Tribology Transactions, Tribology Online, Tribology Materials Surfaces and interfaces. The event was featured by the eminent global tribology societies such as World Tribology Council, Tribology Society of India, Malaysian Tribology Society, Japanese Society of tribology, UK Tribology Society, International Tribology Council and German Tribology Society.
The Dean Faculty of Engineering, Prof Eswaramoorthy Muthuswamy and Head, School of Mechanical Engineering, Dr. R K Mishra, lauded the efforts put in by the organisers to arrange such an event at the international level in the pandemic times.
Dr. Jitendra Kumar Katiyar, Dr. Mir Irfan Ul Haq, and Dr. Anuj Kumar Sharma are the conveners while Prof. TVVLN Rao, Dr. Ankush Raina and Dr. Rabesh Kumar Singh are the co-convenors of the event. Dr. Ankush Anand(SMVDU), Dr. Sanjay Mohan Sharma(SMVDU), Mr. P. Baskara Sethupathi (SRMIST) and Dr. Srihari Dodla (SRMIST) are the organizing secretaries of the symposium.
