Weather & Surroundings

The University is located on 470 acres of land in the lap of the Trikuta Hills, the abode of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, at an elevation of approximately 2700 feet above sea level. The pyramidal architectural style blends harmoniously with the serene valley-like ambiance of the surrounding hills. The lush green hills and the perennial Jhajjar stream in the east minimize the impact of hot and cold winds, creating a pollution-free atmosphere on the campus.

During summer, the average daytime temperature is around 35 degrees Celsius, which is 4 degrees Celsius lower than the surrounding areas of the Jammu region. In winter, the maximum and minimum temperatures range from about 14 to 5 degrees Celsius, respectively. The moderately high hills adorned with trees and plants on the western side of the campus provide shade, offering respite from the heat of the summer afternoons.

The gentle slope of the campus provides an ideal setting for endurance exercises, while the spiritual influence of the Divine Mother and the Holy Shrine is palpable throughout the campus. This spiritual dimension adds to the overall quality of scientific, technical, and management education, as well as the life on campus. Taking an early morning or late evening walk along the Shrine Axis and other loop roads, surrounded by beautifully spaced trees and a clear sky adorned with sparkling stars, proves to be a refreshing experience for the body, mind, and soul.
