Outreach and Extension Activities:

  • Major Science Outreach initiative (2010 – 2019): PI/ Coordinator of DST sponsored “Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE)” Science Internship Camps largest such initiative by any faculty member in J&K. These camps were held between 2010 and 2019. Organized 15 (6 at Leh) fully residential Camps for the top 1% meritorious students of J&K state (now UTs of J&K and Ladakh). Atotal of 4616 students & over 180 eminent mentors/ resource persons have participated in them. Mentors included national and international awardees, Fellow of Royal Society, London, Fellows of the premier National Science Academies of India, Directors, Vice Chancellors, and eminent scientists from ISRO etc. At Leh the Camps were jointly organized with local administration and 14 Corps of Indian Army.

  • Have also organized a number of Conferences/ Seminars/ Workshops and other events in past 20 years with the support of DST, SERB, DBT, UGC, JK Government, UKIERI, INSA, NASI, IASc, Royal Society etc.
