Laboratory Infrastructure, School of Mathematics

The School of Mathematics offers various lab-based courses for M.Sc. Mathematics students, including Computer Programming, Numerical Methods, Queuing Theory, Econometrics, and a Minor Project. To support these courses, the school has a dedicated computer laboratory equipped with 35 computer systems. These systems are well-equipped with a C compiler for programming in C and LaTeX software for mathematical typesetting. Additionally, a printer and scanner are available in the lab for students’ convenience. All computers in the lab are connected to the internet, enabling students to access online resources and conduct research as needed. The computer lab facilities are also utilized by research students from the School of Mathematics, further enhancing their computational capabilities and supporting their academic pursuits.

The School currently has the following laboratories:

1. Computer Laboratory

The Computer Laboratory at the School of Mathematics is a state-of-the-art facility, boasting 35 advanced computer systems equipped with a broad spectrum of software tools designed to meet the varied requirements of both mathematics and computer programming disciplines. The laboratory is uniquely prepared to support coding endeavors in C and C++, while also offering comprehensive resources for document preparation in LaTeX. Moreover, it includes specialized sections dedicated to the R Programming language and MATLAB, ensuring that students and faculty engaged in mathematics and computer science have access to the tools necessary for both educational and research activities. This setup underscores the institution’s dedication to fostering a technologically enriched learning environment.

2. Library

The School of Mathematics has recently established a comprehensive library, thanks to the generous support of the National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM). This library is now home to an extensive collection of books, meticulously curated to cover a wide range of mathematical disciplines. The areas of focus include Algebra, Operator Theory, Topology, Calculus, Statistics, Operation Research, and Numerical Methods. This diverse repository ensures that students and faculty members have access to a wealth of knowledge, facilitating advanced research and study. The establishment of this library marks a significant milestone in the school’s commitment to excellence in mathematical education and research, providing invaluable resources to support the academic community.
