SMVDU Students Participate in SVEEP Program & 2 Day Trekking Camp

A contingent from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, including students & staff, took part in SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) held at Pancheri on 29th November, 2021 and a two day trekking camp organized by Patnitop Development Authority, Kud, on 29th & 30th November, 2021.The trekking team comprising of 26 students (13 girls and 13 boys) and three staff members participated in the Pancheri-Sankari-Ladadhar-Sanasar-Patnitop trek after attending the SVEEP program. Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation program, better known as SVEEP, is the flagship program of the Election Commission of India for voter education, spreading voter awareness and promoting voter literacy in India.The trekking expedition for students was a result of motivation from Vice Chancellor Padma Shri Prof. Ravindra Kumar Sinha who motivated the students to take part in such extracurricular activities. The participation of students in the trekking camp was an initiative from Registrar, SMVDU Sh. Nagendra Singh Jamwal, JKAS, who also attended the SVEEP program and accompanied the students in trekking expedition.

The Dean, Student Welfare, Dr. Hari Govind Mishra, also encouraged students for participation in such events. The trekking expedition for students was a part of the ongoing Fit India Movement being undertaken at the university. The sports wing of the university led by Mr. Parvez Singh Slathia, In-charge sports & nodal officer, Fit India supported by sports coaches Mr. Sumit Sharma and Mr. Balbir Singh made other necessary arrangements required for participation in the trekking camp.
