Anil Kumar Bhardwaj, Associate Professor and Head, School of Electronics and Communication Engineering (SoECE), Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, delivered an expert talk on “VLSI in 5G and 6G” during a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Latest Trends in Signal Processing and Communication”, organized by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology (SLIET), Longowal, Punjab.
The five-day FDP was organized from 7 to 11 September 2026, bringing together faculty members and academic professionals to deliberate on emerging technologies and contemporary developments in signal processing and communication. Dr. Bhardwaj delivered his expert session online on 10 September 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM.
In his talk, Dr. Bhardwaj discussed the role of VLSI technology in enabling next-generation 5G and 6G communication systems, highlighting emerging semiconductor technologies, high-performance and low-power VLSI architectures, hardware acceleration, and the growing requirements of future wireless networks. He also emphasized the importance of advanced VLSI design in realizing high-speed, energy-efficient, intelligent and reliable communication systems for future applications.
The session was followed by an interactive discussion and question-answer session, during which participants engaged with Dr. Bhardwaj on contemporary challenges and research opportunities in VLSI, semiconductor technology and next-generation communication systems.
The expert interaction provided valuable insights to participating faculty members and strengthened academic exchange between SMVDU and SLIET Longowal in the emerging areas of VLSI, semiconductor technology and 5G/6G communications.
