SMVDU Hosts Guest Lecture on ISAC in Modern Battlefield Technologies

The School of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) organized an online guest lecture titled “ISAC in Modern Battlefield: Distributed, Opportunistic and Cognitive Sensing,” delivered by Dr. Kumar Vijay Mishra, Senior Fellow at the United States DEVCOM Army Research Laboratory, on 9th Sep 2026. The session was attended by more than 80 participants—including undergraduate and postgraduate students, research scholars, and faculty members. The lecture highlighted how ISAC integrates communication and sensing functionalities through shared wireless resources, enabling systems to simultaneously transmit information and sense their surrounding environment. Dr. Mishra underscored the significant potential of this capability for modern battlefield applications, where real-time situational awareness, reliable communication, target detection, and rapid decision-making are critical.

The interactive session drew questions and discussions spanning ISAC, radar systems, signal processing, and emerging research directions. This exchange gave participants valuable insights into contemporary research challenges and opportunities in intelligent sensing and communication systems.

The lecture was coordinated by Dr. Shashi Bhushan Kotwal and Mr. Swastik, with support from Pragyan Lab, School of Electronics and Communication Engineering, SMVDU.
