9th Alumni Meet Held at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University; Online Alumni Portal Inaugurated

The 9th Alumni Meet 2026 of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) was organized at the university campus with great enthusiasm and participation from alumni of various batches. The event served as a vibrant platform for alumni to reconnect with their alma mater, interact with faculty members, and relive their cherished memories.

The programme was graced by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Pragati Kumar, who attended the event as the Chief Guest. In his address, he appreciated the achievements of the alumni and emphasized the importance of strengthening the bond between the university and its alumni community. Prof. Yugal Khajuria, Dean International and Alumni Affairs, welcomed the alumni and spoke about various initiatives being undertaken by the university to enhance alumni engagement and collaboration.
On the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor Pragati Kumar also inaugurated the SMVDU Alumni Portal and a Mobile Application, aimed at strengthening alumni connectivity and engagement.

Several distinguished alumni shared their professional journeys and experiences during the event. Among those who spoke were Swan Veer Singh Jaral, alumnus of the School of Energy Management; Deepak Manhas, MBA alumnus; Rohit Sharma, Chief Manager at Punjab National Bank; Aditya Sharma, Founder of Harshvardhan Enterprises ; and Atul Gupta, Managing Director of YAPK Enterprises. They shared their inspiring experiences and encouraged students and fellow alumni to remain connected with the university.

The alumni were also felicitated by the student volunteers as a mark of appreciation for their achievements and continued association with the university. The evening featured cultural performances by alumni, which added a vibrant touch to the celebration. A special Sufi musical performance organized by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) under the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, enthralled the audience.

The proceedings of the event were conducted by Nandita Sharma, an MBA student, while Yuvraj Singh, Student Alumni Coordinator, played an important role in coordinating the programme and facilitating alumni participation.

Among the university officials present on the occasion were Mrs. Kajal Jasrotia, Finance Officer, along with her team; Prof. Sumeet Gupta, Faculty Incharge Examinations; Prof. Suparn Sharma, Director DQA; Mr. Joginder Paul, Public Relations Officer; and Dr. Sandeep Sharma, Alumni Coordinator, School of Mathematics.

Prof. Jyoti, Head, School of Business, along with Dr. Ankush Raina (President, BPA), Dr. Sakshi Arora (Associate Prof., SoCSE), and other faculty members were also present and actively coordinated the proceedings of the event. Various Heads, Deans of the University, students, and staff members also attended the event.

Dr. Mir Irfan Ul Haq, Associate Dean International and Alumni Affairs, presented the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all the university officials , alumni, and student volunteers for their support in making the event a grand success. The event concluded with a gala dinner, where alumni, faculty members, and university officials interacted informally.
