SMVDU. 3 Dec 2025: SMVDU’s School of Business hosted an engaging session with Mr. Shabir Shah, Senior Business Manager and Deputy Survey Manager at the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE). The session offered MBA students deep insights into the rapidly expanding field of Data Analytics, its rising prominence in the global business landscape and the vast opportunities it presents for those opting for it as an MBA specialization. CMIE, one of India’s leading economic think tanks, is known for delivering high-quality business and economic databases. During the session, Mr. Shah introduced students to CMIE’s flagship analytical platforms, including ProwessIQ, Economic Outlook, and the CapEx database. He demonstrated how these tools help users access, filter, and compare extensive corporate and economic datasets, giving students practical experience in navigating and interpreting real-world data. Emphasising the foundational role of clean, reliable datasets, Mr. Shah highlighted how data forms the backbone of modern analytics and enhances forecasting accuracy and strategic decision-making. He reiterated that organisations today increasingly depend on data-driven insights, making analytics an essential skill for future business leaders.The session concluded by underscoring the relevance of Data Analytics in contemporary business environments. Students found the interaction highly informative, practical, and enriching. gaining valuable exposure to CMIE’s software and the broader world of analytics shaping decision-making across industries. The session was successfully coordinated by Prof. Jyoti Sharma and Dr. Divya Singh.
