SMVDU Architecture Students Present Research at International Conference on Urban Resilience, NIT Patna

Two ninth-semester B.Arch. students from the School of Architecture & Landscape Design (SoALD), Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), showcased their research at the International Conference on Urban Resilience and Sustainable Architecture, held at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Patna on November 15–16, 2025. Organized by the Department of Architecture & Planning, the conference brought together scholars and experts from leading national and international institutions, including IITs, IISc, NITs, and SPAs.

Mr. Anirudh Gupta presented his paper titled “Synergizing Biomimicry and Parametric Design Strategies: To Enhance Climate Resilience in Architecture”, co-authored with Ar. Vinod Kumar. His research explores how natural systems and parametric design tools can be integrated to develop advanced climate-responsive architectural solutions.

Ms. Akshita Gupta presented her paper, “Architecture of Transit Interchanges: Sustainable Architecture of Public Spaces in Transit-Oriented Development”, also co-authored with Ar. Vinod Kumar. Her study emphasizes the importance of well-designed transit interchanges in strengthening sustainable urban mobility and enhancing the quality of public spaces within Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) frameworks.

Both papers, completed under the guidance of Ar. Vinod Kumar, Assistant Professor at SoALD, have been selected for publication as peer-reviewed book chapters with ISBN, highlighting the academic quality and relevance of the students’ work.

Further, Ar. Vinod Kumar was invited to chair two technical sessions during the conference, reflecting SMVDU’s growing presence in national and international dialogues on sustainable architecture and urban resilience.

The conference provided a valuable platform for researchers to exchange ideas on climate adaptation, sustainable design practices, and the future of urban environments, with contributions from premier institutions enriching interdisciplinary discussion and collaboration.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Pragati Kumar, and the Head of SoALD, Ar. Abhiney Gupta, along with faculty members, congratulated the students and their supervisor for their commendable achievement. Their success underscores SMVDU’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and promoting impactful research in the field of architecture and sustainable urban development.
