An industrial visit to Dabur India Limited, Bari Brahamna (Jammu) was organized by Mr. B.K. Bhatia, Training & Placement Officer, SMVDU, for the 3rd year students of B.Tech (Mechanical Engineering) and 1st year students of M.Tech (Smart Manufacturing).The Dabur India plant at Bari Brahamna is a state-of-the-art, fully automatic facility producing popular consumer products including Real Juices, Hajmola tablets, and others. During the visit, the students were warmly welcomed and guided by Mr. Nitin Sonkar (Unit Head), Mr. Sanjay Bhasin (HR Head), and Mr. Pradeep (Sr. Production Executive). They interacted with the students and provided a detailed tour of the plant.The live exposure to an automation-driven production line helped students gain hands-on understanding of the flow process—from raw material input to final packaging ready for transportation. Such experiential learning offered valuable insights into modern manufacturing systems, automation, and quality control. The School of Mechanical Engineering (SoME), SMVDU, which offers B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering with Honors in 3D Printing, Robotics and Automation, is committed to preparing students to meet evolving industry requirements. The School also runs an M.Tech program in Smart Manufacturing, designed to equip students with Industry 4.0 skills aligned with future industrial needs. Students of both the degree programs were on this visit. The visit was coordinated under the guidance of Prof. Balbir Singh, Dean, Academic Affairs, with the objective of enhancing student exposure to industrial automation. The faculty team comprising Dr. Yatheshth Anand (Head, SoME), Dr. Amit Sinha (Assistant Professor), and Mr. Sugal Kishor (Senior Technical Assistant) accompanied the students, assisting in field-based learning and exploring opportunities for industry-linked projects, internships, and collaborations.Such initiatives reinforce SMVDU’s commitment to fostering industry-academia partnerships and enhancing students’ readiness for professional careers.
