SMVDU: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) successfully concluded its pre-event activities under the Flagship Viksit Bharat@2047 – Yuva Connect Programme, a national initiative to inspire youth participation in nation-building.
As part of the programme, SMVDU conducted a series of engaging and impactful activities, including a Walkathon, Poster Making Competition, Debate Competitions, Youth Parliament, Expert Talks on Leadership & Motivation, Physical Fitness Activities, Cultural Events, and Plays/Skit/Nukkad Natak promoting the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan. An Awareness Rally was also organized to extend the message of a drug-free India to the wider community.
The Youth Parliament, entirely conceptualized and organized by the students, stood out as one of the most impactful events and was widely praised by all dignitaries and attendees for its depth, preparation, and spirited debate.
The events were coordinated by Dr. Varun Dutta and Dr. Rajiv Kumar, with active involvement from SMVDU NCC Cadets, NSS volunteers, and students. Participants also included students from SMVD College of Nursing and nearby Government schools, adding to the diversity and reach of the programme.
The concluding ceremony was graced by Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, and Dr. Yashpal Sharma, Executive Director, SMVDIME, as the Chief Guests. Prof. Pragati Kumar, Vice Chancellor, SMVDU, addressed the gathering, commending the efforts of students and coordinators, and highlighting the importance of youth engagement in shaping the nation’s future.
Prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions, recognizing their talent and dedication. The occasion was also attended by Sh. Ajay Kumar Sharma, Registrar, SMVDU; Sh. Neeraj Gupta, Finance Officer, SMVDU; Prof. R.K. Mishra; Prof. Balbir Singh, Deans, Heads of Departments, Faculty members, and staff from SMVDU and SMVDIME.
The pre-event activities served as a dynamic platform for students to showcase their skills, express their views on national issues, and work collectively towards the vision of a developed India by 2047.
