Katra, Jammu & Kashmir: In a remarkable achievement, Debjyoti Mukhopadhyay, a recent graduate of the School of Architecture & Landscape Design (SoALD) at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), has secured admission offers from five esteemed public universities in Germany for postgraduate studies, including Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, Brandenburg University of Technology, Wismar University of Applied Sciences, Technische Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe, and the Detmold School of Design.After careful consideration, Debjyoti opted for the highly selective M.Eng. in Integrated Design at the Detmold School of Design, TH OWL. This prestigious program admits only around 25 international students annually, reflecting its competitive nature.A University Gold Medalist (B.Arch, 2019-2024), Debjyoti’s exceptional academic record and design portfolio, which showcases his commitment to sustainability and social responsiveness, earned him an impressive score of 90 out of 100 in the rigorous international selection process. His outstanding performance also secured him a scholarship, a testament to his academic excellence.Debjyoti’s undergraduate thesis, “Nature-Nurtured Excellence: The Biophilic Super Specialty Hospital,” was awarded the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) Best Undergraduate Thesis Award 2024-2025. This achievement demonstrates his expertise in designing sustainable and socially responsible buildings.Debjyoti attributed his academic and design growth to his mentor and thesis guide, Ar.
