Katra: The Two-Day Workshop on Design Thinking, Critical Thinking, and Innovation Design successfully concluded at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU). Held online, the workshop aimed to equip participants with vital skills in problem-solving, creativity, and innovation. The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Mir Irfan Ul Haq, Associate Professor, SME and Prof. Ankush Anand (Coordinator, Bachelor of Design ) and jointly organized by the Institute Innovation Council (IIC), SMVDU, and the SMVDU Technology Business Incubation Center (TBIC), the workshop attracted over 80+ participants, including students, entrepreneurs, designers, and aspiring innovators from across India such as UIET Kathua, JMI New Delhi, Central University of Rajasthan, IUST Awantipora, Jammu University, Delhi Technological University, and Galgotia University. The workshop featured a distinguished panel of resource persons who delivered enriching sessions throughout the two-day event Dr. Sumer Singh, Department of Design, IIT Delhi, Dr. Dinesh Singh, Mechanical Engineering Department, NIT Srinagar, Mr. Abhilash Kumar Braroo, Associate Project Manager, JKEDI, Dr. Deepshika, Department of Design, JMI, New Delhi, Dr. Taruna Singh, Department of Design, DTU, New Delhi and Mr. Nandeesha M, Lead UX Designer and Design Thinking Expert, SAP Labs India. The event provided a comprehensive approach to integrating Design Thinking, Critical Thinking, and Innovation Design methodologies, giving attendees valuable insights into applying these concepts to real-world challenges. Prof. Ashutosh Vashistha President Institute Innovation Council (IIC) SMVDU, Dr. Sanjay Mohan Sharma, CEO SMVDU TBIC, Prof. A.K Das, Dean R&D and Dr. Sanjeev Anand (Assoc. Dean R&D) in their address to participants informed that SMVDU is committed to continuing such initiatives, ensuring that future innovators and leaders are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the ever-evolving world of design and technology and thanked Prof. Pragati Kumar, Vice Chancellor, SMVDU for his support and appreciation for organizing such events and his academic leadership. Pertinently SMVDU has started a four year program on Bachelor of Design and is the only university in J&K UT to offer the program. Ms. Tanshiqa Bhati from the Bachelor of Design carried out the proceedings of the program.
