SMVDU Katra, March 2019. Ms. Jyotsna Sharma, Ph. D. Student, School of Biotechnology, SMVDU, has been awarded the Young Scientist Award (Special Session) for her Oral Presentation titled “Development of in vitro Conservation Protocol and Confirmation of Traditionally Acclaimed Medicinal Properties of Less Explored Medicinal Herb Nanorrhinum ramosissimum” at the ” National Seminar on Increasing Participation of Women in Science & Technology” organized by the Equal Opportunity Cell, Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, in collaboration with National Commission for Women, Govt. of India on March 16, 2019. The focal theme of the Seminar was envisaged keeping in view the low representation of Indian women in science and technology workforce.
Ms. Jyotsna Sharma has recently submitted her Ph. D. thesis under the joint supervision of Dr. Raju Shankarayan, Assistant Prof. and Dr. Sharada M. Potukuchi, Associate Prof., School of Biotechnology, SMVDU. Her research work was highly appreciated for the in vitro regeneration and micropropagation protocol that has been established which to our knowledge is a first report for a lesser studied antidiabetic medicinal herb Nanorrhinum ramosissimum.
