SMVDU: The Student Induction Program-2024 was inaugurated at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) to welcome newly admitted students across various programs, including B.Tech, B.Arch, B.Design, B.A., B.Sc, BBA, Design Your Degree, M.A., MBA, M.Sc., and M.Tech. The program commenced today at the Maitrika Auditorium, where more than 500 students from across India participated.
The inaugural function began with the lighting of the lamp by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of SMVDU, Prof. (Dr.) Pragati Kumar, Registrar, SMVDU, Sh. Ajay Kumar Sharma, and Deans of various streams, accompanied by the recitation of Saraswati Vandana by the students.
Addressing the students, the Chief Guest, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Pragati Kumar, extended his congratulations to the new batch and emphasized the diverse curriculum choices available under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. He shared his vision with the new students, inspiring them to embrace challenges in life. The session also marked the introduction of three new programs: B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing, BioTech, and Bachelor of Design, along with the Design Your Degree program, all starting from this academic session. Additionally, the Four-Year UG Program (FYUP) as per NEP 2020 is also being introduced this session.
Prof. Balbir Singh, Dean of Academic Affairs and Chairman of the Student Induction Program, warmly welcomed and motivated the students to embark on their higher education journey with enthusiasm. Other deans, including Prof. R.K. Mishra, Dean of Students Welfare, Prof. K.R. Jha, Dean of Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Ashutosh Vashist, Dean of Faculty of Management, and Dr. A.K. Das, Dean of Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, greeted the students with warm welcome notes.
The event also featured captivating performances by senior students, including group singing and a Bhangra performance, which enthralled the audience. The newly admitted students took an oath comprising ten principles formulated by former President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, emphasizing values such as integrity, humanity, nationalism, and good citizenship.
The event was organized by the Academic Affairs Section and Universal Human Cell, coordinated by Dr. Bharat Bhushan Jindal, Dr. Anil Kr Bhardwaj, Dr. Kamaldeep, Dr. Madhu Mangal, Dr. Amit Kr Sinha, Dr. Varun Dutta, and various student volunteers from different streams of SMVDU. The Organizing Secretary of the Program, Dr. Pooja Sharma, Assistant Professor from the School of Computer Science and Engineering, delivered the Vote of Thanks, concluding the event on a positive note.
