SMVDU: In a concerted effort to promote cleanliness and hygiene, NSS volunteers from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) joined hands with the Reasi District Administration for a comprehensive cleanliness drive as part of the ongoing Swachhta Pakhwada. The drive, aimed at creating a cleaner and healthier environment, witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and officials alike.
The focus of the drive was primarily on two key areas: Katra Bus Stand and Baba Aghar Jitto Temple in Reasi. Armed with brooms and dustbins, volunteers worked tirelessly to remove litter, clear debris, and create a more welcoming atmosphere for visitors and locals. The initiative was met with widespread appreciation from the community, as it showcased the commitment of young volunteers towards societal welfare.
Deputy Commissioner of Reasi, Mr. Vishesh Paul Mahajan (JKAS) lauded the efforts of NSS SMVDU volunteers ,the nearby government schools and the district administration for their collective endeavor. He emphasized the importance of such drives in fostering a sense of responsibility among the youth and inspiring others to contribute towards a cleaner India. The DC also highlighted the administration’s ongoing efforts to maintain cleanliness in public places and urged citizens to cooperate in keeping their surroundings clean.
The cleanliness drive was not merely a one-time event but a step towards creating a lasting impact on the community. It is hoped that such initiatives will encourage more people to participate in similar activities, leading to a cleaner and greener Reasi. NSS coordinator Dr. Rajiv Kumar also participated in the said event. Vice chancellor Prof. Pragati Kumar appreciated the efforts of NSS volunteers.
