Introductory Session on Universal Human Values conducted at SMVDU

University Human Values Cell at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) organised an interactive session with Mr. Rajul Asthana and his wife Dr. Sharmila Asthana, dedicated and eminent volunteers of Universal Human Values (UHV) course introduced by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) in the curriculum of all technical programs. Mr Rajul Asthana, a Mechanical Engineer by training, and Dr Sharmila Asthana, a paediatrician, interacted with faculty, staff, and research scholars of SMVDU. Mr. Asthana is a Member of the National Coordination Committee – Induction Program (NCC-IP) of AICTE. Dr. Asthana volunteers to train teachers for the UHV course in various technical educational institutions of the country. Professor Balbir Singh, Dean of Academic Affairs and Coordinator of the University Human Values Cell welcomed experts in the introductory session.  In their interaction, Mr. and Mrs. Asthana emphasized the need to train the faculty to address the issues and challenges faced by the students through universal value education. It is important to understand that the purpose of teaching UHV is to bring clarity and the right understanding of relations and physical facilities in order to live in harmony and experience continuity of happiness. Faculty, staff, and research scholars from various schools attended the session. Amongst present were Dr. Mir Irfan Ul Haq and  Dr. Snajay Mohan Sharma, Asst. Professors and Mr. Deepak Bayotra, Workshop Superintendent along with staff members from School of Mechanical Engineering,  and Dr. Madhu Mangal Chaturvedi and Dr. Satish K. Tiwari, Assistant Professors from  the School of Philosophy & Culture and Mr. B.K. Bhatia, Training and Placement Officer.  Prof. Pragati Kumar, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, SMVDU appreciated experts and the Human Values Cell for the ongoing activities related to Human Values at SMVDU.
