SMVDU Students Visit from SoECE at India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2023, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi

A group of 14 students from the School of Electronics and Communications Engineering at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University attended the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2023, Asia’s largest digital technology event, which was held from October 27 to 29, 2023, at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, India. The students were accompanied by faculty member Dr. Satish Kumar Tiwari and staff member Ms. Preeti Sambyal.

The students had the opportunity to experience the latest technologies in mobile, 5G, Internet of Things (IoT), Satellite Internet, Smart Agriculture, XR, and other emerging fields. They also attended keynote addresses by global leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who quoted “The Future is Here and Now,” and Minister of Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnav, along with panel discussions and workshops on a wide range of topics, and exhibits and demonstrations from over 400 companies and institutions such as Airtel, Reliance Jio, Dell, Intel, and organizations like ISRO, DTU, IITs, including personalities such as Akash Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd, and Sunil Bharati Mittal, Chairman of Bharti Enterprises and founder of Bharti Airtel, etc.

The students also had the opportunity to network with potential employers and investors at the event. They were particularly interested in learning about the latest trends in the digital technology industry and how they can apply their skills to solve real-world problems.

The students’ participation in IMC 2023 was made possible by the inputs of Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Pragati Kumar, Registrar Sh. Nagendra Singh Jamwal, Dean of Students Welfare Dr. R. K. Mishra, and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Dr. K. R. Jha.

The visit was organized under the supervision of the Head of SoECE, Dr. Anil Bharadwaj, Assistant Professor Dr. Purnima Hazra, and various faculty members and staff. The students were also grateful to the student coordinators, Sonu and Yashwant, for their help in organizing the trip.

The students’ experience at IMC 2023 was truly inspiring. They were amazed by the latest technologies on display and the potential of these technologies to change the world. They were also motivated by the success stories of entrepreneurs and innovators who are using technology to solve real-world problems. They were introduced to Jio’s initiative in satellite internet, ISRO’s Human Space Flight Program Gaganyan, OneWeb’s Satellite Constellation, and many more.

The students returned to the SMVDU with a renewed sense of purpose and a deep understanding of the digital technology industry. They are now eager to apply their skills and knowledge to make a positive impact on the world.

The students were grateful to SoECE, SMVDU for giving them the opportunity to attend IMC 2023. It was a truly life-changing experience.
