The School of Biotechnology (SoBT) at SMVD University (SMVDU), in collaboration with the DBT-PG Teaching Programme, organized a talk on sustainable agriculture and food security. Prof. Ramakrishna Wusirika, a distinguished professor at the Central University of Punjab in Bathinda, delivered the guest lecture. The lecture emphasized the “Proteomic and Metabolomic Reprogramming in Wheat by Plant Growth Promoting Bacteria and Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi.” Prof. Wusirika presented his research findings, highlighting the significant impact of plant growth-promoting bacteria and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi on enhancing wheat plants’ proteomic and metabolomic profiles. Dr. Sharada Potukuchi, Coordinator (DBT-PGT program), thanked the professor for sharing his knowledge. Participants had an opportunity to gain insights into agricultural research and the applications of microbial biotechnology in improving yield parameters in wheat, a staple crop. The lecture also explored the broader implications of this research for sustainable agriculture and food security. Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Co-coordinator (DBT-PGT program), expressed his gratitude to Prof. Wusirika. Dr. Ratna Chandra, Head, SoBT, SMVDU, appreciated the organisers’ efforts in putting together such an impactful event.
