SMVDU: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) successfully concluded its Student Induction Program (SIP) 2024, which aimed to inspire and motivate new students through expert talks, interactive sessions, and activities fostering their holistic development. The two-week-long induction, held at SMVDU campus, aimed to orient the students towards personal growth, professional excellence, and overall well- being.
The program started with an insightful expert talk titled, “Master Your Mind for Success, Happiness & Harmony”, emphasizing the importance of mental clarity and emotional balance in achieving academic and personal success. Another crucial session focused on the “Drug Menace”, discussing the dangers of substance abuse and prevention strategies. This was followed by a lecture on “Hygiene and Mental Wellbeing”, highlighting the interconnectedness of physical health and mental wellness.
A series of lectures on “Universal Human Values” helped the students appreciate the importance of ethics, empathy, and personal integrity, essential for leading a balanced and meaningful life.
Mr. B.K. Bhatia, the Training and Placement officer of SMVDU provided valuable insights into “Placement Opportunities” and guided students on preparing for their professional careers from the beginning. Students also learned about the “Role and Life of NCC” (National Cadet Corps), emphasizing the significance of discipline, leadership, and national service.
In addition to intellectual engagements, the induction program featured daily Yoga Sessions and Sports Activities to ensure that students maintain a healthy body-mind balance.
The event ended with a captivating cultural performance by the Board of Cultural Activities (BCA), adding artistic flair to the week. It was followed by an inspiring address from the Heads of Departments (HoDs), Deans, and the Chairman of the Student Induction Program, Dr. Balbir Singh, who encouraged students to make the best use of the resources and opportunities available at SMVDU. Dr. Bharat Bhushan Jindal, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs (Engineering), a team of faculty coordinators and student volunteers organized the SIP. Dr. Kamaldeep delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the experts, faculty members, and students for making the induction program a grand success.
