Dr. Rakesh K Thusoo, Principal coordinator ICMR-CAR, School of Biotechnology, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) co-convened and chaired pre-conference workshop of Fertivision 2020, on Decision making in genetics and PGT (Clinical Case Scenarios).
The meeting is being inaugurated by Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Union minister of Health and Family welfare and guest of honor is Dr. Huge Taylor, President ASRM. Over 50 International faculty, well renowned in the field of Reproductive Medicine and 3000 delegates from across the globe will deliberate at the meeting. Besides the main congress, 10 pre-congress workshops on applied issues in ART were held on 29th November, 2020.
The main discussion in the workshop revolved around the couples at increased risk of having offspring with a specific genetic disorder who want to avoid having an affected child have several reproductive options including prenatal diagnosis (PND) and preimplantation genetic testing (PGT). The PGT influences patients’ lives in both positive and negative ways and is experienced at an individual level, as a family member and as part of the society.
In keeping with the pandemic, this year the 16th Annual conference of Indian Fertility Society, “FERTIVISION 2020”, 4-6th December, 2020, is going virtual. Indian Fertility Society, a leading academic body in the field of Reproductive Medicine in India, and are well recognized for academic activities with regular CME and conferences.
Dr. Rakesh is an alumnus of AIIMS, New Delhi and Washington University School of Medicine, St Louis, USA. He is a leading geneticist of the Jammu and Kashmir who established state of art laboratory facilities at SMVDU. His lab produced five Ph.Ds. and more than twenty international publications in peer-reviewed journals.
