Review of benchmarks conducted at SMVDU

SMVDU Katra: Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain chaired two-days long meeting, from 22nd -23rd May, to thoroughly review the progress of all departments against the benchmarks set by the SMVD University. All the members of faculty including respective Heads of the Departments presented their progress and achievements against the parameters of the benchmark that include marks obtained on a 5-point scale on the feedback about teaching, projects guided and research undertaken, timely evaluation and display of answer sheets and grade sheets, pass percentage of students per course, publication and obtaining MOOC certification, papers presented in conferences and seminars, attending of faculty development programs, administrative responsibilities and mentorship of students etc. Vice Chancellor interacted with all faculty members especially with regard to any difficulty faced by them during the past semester; any support needed and about the plan for consistence progress in future.

It was stressed upon by the Vice Chancellor that a student’s performance in the examination and his consistent progress in the program is a responsibility of faculty members. A faculty member is responsible for the meaningful communication in the classroom as well as the individual problems faced by students. If needed, a faculty must provide remedial classes to students and extend necessary mentorship required by them. Conduct of special yoga classes for students by the Dept. of Philosophy & Culture was also impressed upon. The review will go a long way to strengthen the achievement of faculty against API, rather the benchmarks achieved will directly translate into the API of a faculty, emphasized the Vice Chancellor. The review meeting was coordinated by Dr. Hari Goving Mishra, Director Internal Quality assurance Cell (IQAC). Prof. V. K. Bhat, Registrar, was also part of the review process.
