A two-day online webinar to mark the “National Mathematics Day” celebrations concluded at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University on 22 December 2021. The webinar was organized by the School of Mathematics, SMVDU in which eminent Mathematicians Prof. K. Srinivas Rao, Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Chennai, Prof. Parveen Aggarwal, AICE, Jaipur, Prof. S. Bhargava, University of Mysore, Prof. M. S. Mahadeva Naika, Banglore University, Banglore and Prof. M.P. Chaudhary, Neta Ji Subhash University of Technology, New Delhi deliberated on the life and work of mathematical genius Srinivas Ramanujan.
In an informal valedictory function, Dr Uday Pratap Singh, Head SoM and convener of the webinar welcomed the participants and eminent speakers. Dr Surender Singh, Coordinator of the webinar presented the main highlights of the webinar. Dr Sandeep Sharma, Organizing secretary interacted with participants regarding feedback.
The valedictory was concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Sandeep Bhougal, Co-coordinator of the webinar. Prof. V K Bhat, Dr A K Das, Dr Kuldip Raj and Dr Palak Pandoh were also present during the valedictory.
The webinar was attended by participants with great enthusiasm, and it created an inquisitiveness among them regarding some interesting work of Ramanujan such as hypergeometric functions, Mock theta functions, Modular forms. etc.
