NSS volunteers of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) organized an awareness programme for “Poshan Abhiyan” during the ongoing 5th Rashtriya Poshan Maah.Poshan Abhiyaan is Government of India’s flagship programme to improve nutritional outcomes for children under 6 years of age, pregnant women and lactating mothers. Every year September month is celebrated as Rashtriya Poshan Maah”. Volunteers visited Govt. Primary School situated in village School. The NSS volunteer Arshpreet discussed the role of balanced diet in good health with students and emphasized on major components of balanced diet. Volunteer Saaniya gave a demo on proper hand wash before taking a meal. Role of personal hygiene was also discussed with students for a healthy body. Volunteers also enquired about food habits of school students and their mid-day meal menu for the week. Fruits were also distributed to the students at the end of session. Dr. Rajiv Kumar, NSS Programme Coordinator of University appreciated the efforts of volunteers and also thanked school authorities for their support.
