The NSS unit of SMVDU, Katra, organized a donation collection drive for the Indian Association for the Blind (IAB) in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. The IAB reaffirms its commitment to empowering visually challenged individuals to become self-reliant by providing comprehensive rehabilitation, education, and employment opportunities. It has a special focus on socioeconomically disadvantaged visually challenged children and adults, particularly those from rural areas.
Volunteers from NSS SMVDU collected donations by selling badges/flags provided by the organization. University students, staff, and faculty members actively participated in the drive and donated to this noble cause. The collection drive, organized over three days, raised Rs. 15,000, which was then donated to the IAB. The NSS coordinator, Dr. Rajiv Kumar, and co-coordinator, Dr. Kamaldeep, appreciated the volunteers’ efforts in organizing the drive. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Pragati Kumar, also commended the NSS team’s noble initiative.
