School of Physics, SMVD University organized an expert lecture by Prof. Pritam Deb, a renowned Professor at the Department of Physics, Tezpur University, Tezpur. The title of his talk was “Materials Science – Touching the Horizon and Feeling Beyond”. Prof. Deb addressed and introduced the faculty members and students of M.Sc. Physics, Integrated B.Sc. (Physics) – M.Sc. Physics and research scholars to the upcoming area of Mesoscopic Physics besides Magnetism in low dimension, Surface Nanoscience, Electronic Structure Calculation, and many other areas of contemporary research. He emphasized the role of nanoparticle engineering in developing futuristic applications of tremendous importance for society. The lecture was well received by the participants, particularly the students. He motivated students to take up challenging problems and go beyond their normal capacities so as to make a niche of their own in times to come.Prof. Deb appreciated the work being done by the faculty and students of the School of Physics, SMVD University.Prof. Deb is an acclaimed scientist of National and International repute and has recently been bestowed with the coveted Visitors Award for best technology development by the Hon’ble President of India during the Visitors Conference-2022. Prof. Deb is also the DPIIT Chair Professor, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Cell. He has also set up a central facility at the Advanced Functional Material Laboratory at the Department of Physics, Tezpur University.
