One Day International Seminar on “Green building: Sustainable Business for Cleaner and Greener Environment” was organized by the School of Mechanical Engineering, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra. Dr. Varun Dutta and Dr. Sanjay Sharma, Assistant Professors at the School of Mechanical Engineering and the Convener and Co- convener of the program respectively, provided a comprehensive overview of the webinar’s objectives. The primary aim of this seminar was to acquaint the participants to explore the Green building practices and sustainable development policies. The inaugural session of the online seminar was graced by Dr. Balbir Singh, Dean, Academic Affairs, Dr. V.V. Tyagi, Dean, R&D and Prof. M Eswaramoorthy, Head, School of Mechanical Engineering, who inspired the participants, which include academicians and industry personnel from Indian and abroad, to delve into the diverse importance and potentials of Green Buildings. Esteemed speaker, Dr. Pankaj Mehta, Senior Faculty member, Department of Environmental sciences, Centre University of Jammu, spoke on various aspects of Green buildings and their design aspects. He emphasized that the green building has enormous potential to combat climate change. At the end, Dr. Sanjay Sharma, co-convener of the program, expressed his heartfelt gratitude during the vote of thanks. The coordinators extended their appreciation to the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of SMVDU, Professor Pragati Kumar, and Sh. Ajay Kumar Sharma (JKAS), Registrar of SMVDU, for their invaluable support in successfully organizing this enriching seminar.
