SMVDU: The School of Languages and Literature, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), inaugurated a three-day workshop on Gender Studies today. The workshop aims to provide an academic platform for scholars and students to engage in critical discussions on gender issues, fostering interdisciplinary perspectives. Prof. Pragati Kumar, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, SMVDU, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his address, he emphasized the significance of gender studies in contemporary academia and policy-making, urging participants to contribute meaningfully to the discourse. Prof. Kavita Suri, the Guest of Honour, highlighted the need for a gender-sensitive approach in education and research, encouraging scholars to explore innovative methodologies in gender studies. Dr. Amitabh V. Dwivedi, Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, delivered the inaugural address, stressing the evolving nature of gender studies and its relevance in fostering inclusivity and equity. The workshop commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Anurag Kumar, Head, School of Languages and Literature, who underscored the department’s commitment to hosting intellectually enriching events. Dr. Isha Malhotra served as the Workshop Coordinator.
