The School of Physics at SMVDU, in collaboration with NITTTR Chandigarh, conducted an ICT-based one-week training program on ‘Materials Characterization Techniques’ from December 4th to 8th, 2023. The training program included faculty members, technical staff, and Ph.D. research scholars from SMVDU as participants. The main aim of this program was to impart basic and practical knowledge of advanced tools used for material characterization in research organizations and academic institutes. Organized by NITTTR Chandigarh and hosted at the SMVDU remote center, the program featured a number of experimental techniques carried out by experts in synthesizing and characterizing materials from NITTTR, Chandigarh, and other premier institutes in Northern India. During session breaks, participants engaged in various quizzes, assignments, and discussions. The main coordinators of the training program were Dr. Pankaj Sharma, Professor, and Dr. Ashok Kumar, Associate Professor from NITTTR Chandigarh. Dr. Pankaj Biswas and Dr. Kamni Pathania, local coordinators from the School of Physics at SMVDU, extended their gratitude to Prof. Pragati Kumar, Honorable Vice-Chancellor, for his valuable support in organizing the training program at the SMVDU remote center, and to Dr. S.K. Wanchoo, Head of the School of Physics and Dean of the Faculty of Science at SMVDU, for facilitating the organizing process of the STTP.
