Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp Inaugurates at SMVD University

SMVDU Katra, November 2019. A three-day Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp, sponsored by the DST-NIMAT Project, was inaugurated at the Entrepreneurship Development Cell, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU). Dr. Suparn K.Sharma, Chief Coordinator, Entrepreneurship Development Cell, SMVD University, informed about the prominence of such entrepreneurship programs in educational institutions. To apprise the students of the importance of technology in job creation, Prof. Eswaramoorthy Muthusamy, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, urged to harness solar technology in food processing in Jammu & Kashmir. Dr. R.K. Mishra, Head, School of Mechanical Engineering, motivated the students for entrepreneurship by deliberating the pros of starting own business. The students were guided for values and qualities of good entrepreneurs by Dr. Yugal Khajuria, Dean of Students Welfare, SMVDU. During the function Dr. Saurabh, Head, School of Business, defined entrepreneurship as a way of life by being socially viable, economically feasible and environmentally sustainable. The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of SMVD University, Padam Shri Prof. Ravindra Kumar Sinha and the Chief Guest of the Inaugural function emphasized on the change of mindset of the students for responsible entrepreneurial activities for the development of the nation. He emphasized on imbibing entrepreneurial skills of the youth for the sustainable growth and development of the nation. With the active participation of around 100 engineering and science students, this EAC will have sessions by entrepreneurs and subject experts on the ways of starting own business. The Camp would consist of sessions, including entrepreneurship, general concepts; historical background-Indian values vis-a-vis entrepreneurship and the present scenario; support and financial assistance from Govt. agencies, banks, financial institutions, SFCs, SIDBI and others-securities demanded by FIs/Banks, etc.; a mechanism for product selection and technology-assistance from R&D labs and others on choice of technology, etc.; financial aspects of MSME unit including salient features of a project report; tech. & commercial aspects of an MSME unit; how to start an MSME unit; identification of opportunities for entrepreneurs & startups in the region; lecture by practicing entrepreneur’s success stories. Earlier, Dr Rashi Taggar conducted the inaugural function while at the end of the program Dr. Deepak Jain, offered the vote of thanks.
