The School of Computer Science & Engineering at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University prides itself on its state-of-the-art laboratories, each equipped with the latest computer systems interconnected in a network. This advanced setup offers students a comprehensive platform to delve deep into the intricate concepts of computer science, fostering a seamless integration of theory learned in the classroom with practical applications. The School’s focus is on nurturing globally competitive professionals, proficient in both hardware and software aspects of computing. These emerging professionals are trained to be innovative, with a strong emphasis on contributing to India’s economy in the prevailing era of Information Technology. The curriculum is thoughtfully designed to equip students with fundamental concepts and skills in Computer Science, enabling their applications across various fields of software development, hardware technology, and networking

The School currently has the following laboratories:

1. PROJECT LAB (ADOBE LAB):

The Project Lab at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University is a technology-rich environment, equipped with 21 high-performance computing systems from leading manufacturers like HP, IBM, and Dell. These systems are interconnected through a robust Local Area Network (LAN) infrastructure, ensuring seamless and efficient data exchange. The Lab primarily serves as the breeding ground for innovation and creativity. Here, students embark on their Minor and Major Projects under the astute mentorship of their dedicated Project In-charges. Students leverage diverse programming languages and platforms, delving into an array of cutting-edge research areas. These include image processing, Natural Language Processing (NLP), wireless networks, artificial intelligence, data warehousing, multimedia, and more. This lab is a testament to the university’s commitment to providing practical, hands-on learning experiences in the field of technology.

2. DATABASE LAB:

This lab is extensively used by the students for exploring each and every aspect of Database Management System (DBMS). This lab consists of the open source software’s like Visual Studio Code, Netbeans 8.0 IDE, JDK Kit, Mysql, Dev C++, Code Blocks, Anaconda 3 bundle, online tools to conduct experiments related to software engineering. The students are provided hands-on training in the areas of Database Management System (DBMS) Lab, Data Structure Lab, Python lab, DAA Lab, Machine learning Lab, and Software engineering Lab etc. The Lab is equipped with 30 HP computers of the latest configuration and has its own separate virtual LAN.

3. INTERNET LAB:

The Internet Lab at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University is a technological hub, equipped with 70 high-end Intel i7 computer systems. As one of the largest computer labs in the university, it serves as a pivotal resource for students to expand their knowledge and skills. The lab hosts a wide range of programming classes, enabling students to gain proficiency in Python, C, Operating Systems, C++, and R. Additionally, it is the central venue for all placement tests, workshops, and online events, reinforcing its position as a crucial academic and career-oriented space. Furthermore, it’s used as a center for conducting a variety of online competitive exams, including GATE, CUET, and JKSSB. This state-of-the-art Internet Lab exemplifies the university’s commitment to offering a dynamic, digitally-enhanced learning environment.

4. PROGRAMMING LAB:

The Programming Lab at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University serves as a vital platform to cultivate and refine students’ programming skills. It offers an environment that fosters proficiency in a range of programming languages, enabling students to specialize in their respective fields of interest. The lab is outfitted with 30 high-performance DELL Optiplex 330 PCs, each with a Pentium Core II Dual Processor and a 160 GB Hard Disk Drive. Primarily designed for conducting labs in various programming languages, students can explore VB.Net, SQL Server Enterprise, Java, C++, and Graphics in C. Additionally, it provides a perfect setting for students to embark on their mini projects. This lab emphasizes the university’s commitment to empowering students with practical, industry-oriented skills in programming.

5. OPERATING SYSTEM (LINUX LAB):

The Operating System Lab at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University epitomizes a state-of-the-art educational environment, meticulously designed to immerse students deeply in the functionalities and developmental intricacies of various operating systems. This lab is home to 30 advanced Dell Intel Core i7 computer systems, setting a robust foundation for technological excellence and innovation. It acts as a dynamic learning platform, offering hands-on experience with a variety of operating systems, including Unix, Red Hat Linux, and MS-Windows. Beyond operating systems, the lab facilitates an enriched understanding of critical computer science domains such as data structures and machine learning. 6. BASIC COMPUTING LABORATORY:

The Basic Computing Laboratory at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University is a dynamic learning hub, equipped with the latest computer systems. Here, students are introduced to the core principles of computing and delve into every facet of basic computer systems. The lab is a critical resource for mastering foundational IT tools, including MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS-PowerPoint, and MS-Access. It also offers an avenue for developing programming proficiency using the “C” language. With a total of 30 modern computer systems, the lab ensures an engaging, hands-on learning experience.
