SMVDU: Directorate of Quality Assurance, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University Katra organised a one day workshop on the topic “Best Practices in Administrative Procedures” under PM-USHA Scheme. The workshop was aimed to foster the administrative skills of the employees and to adopt best practices and procedures for effective administration of the University affairs. Prof. Pragati Kumar Vice Chancellor of the University graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his address, he emphasised the importance of adopting best practices in the administrative procedures which will facilitate the University to excel in its academic and research pursuits. The Vice Chancellor appreciated the efforts of the Coordinators, Professor Sumeet Gupta, Faculty I/C Examinations & Sh. Surinder Kumar, Assistant Registrar (Examination) of the workshop for organising such events which will help in augmenting the performance of the administrative staff. The resource persons Dr. Ravi Shankar Sharma, JKAS, Special Secretary in the Agriculture Production Department, J&K UT and Mr. Shreenibas Chandra Prusty, Registrar, Indian Law Institute, Delhi held detailed deliberations on effective administrative procedures and had vibrant exchange of ideas with the audience. Both the experts shared their rich administrative experiences on various aspects of the University administration. Dr. Ravi Shankar Sharma emphasized on fully utilizing the autonomous nature of the university in designing optimized procedures and mechanisms for efficient and smooth administration. He further suggested enhancing the opportunities of research for not only the faculty and research scholars but also the students of UG and PG programs, for the benefit of the University and the society at large. Mr. Prusty emphasized on the importance of providing conducive atmosphere to the employees to boost their work capabilities. He discussed a large number of best practices being followed at different institutions and the important issue of the employees having a sense of ownership of the organization. He was also instrumental in replying to the queries of the audience on the administrative aspects in a very effective manner. Sh. Ajay Kumar Sharma, JKAS, Registrar, observed the importance of such workshops which generated innovation among the staff. Finance Officer Sh. Neeraj Gupta, JKAS also addressed the audience and emphasized upon maintain financial propriety while adopting efficient practices and lauded the efforts of the organizers of the workshop. The workshop was attended by various Deans, Heads of Schools, Section Heads, Administrative Officers and other faculty & staff members. The workshop concluded with vote of thanks by Prof. Sumeet Gupta, Faculty In-charge Examinations and Coordinator of the workshop.
