SMVDU Katra: Dr. Jitendra Chaddha, Senior Director Operations and Strategy Intel India, who was on a 2-day visit of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, reviewed the special facilities and research projects going on in some important labs of the University. Accompanied with the Vice Chancellor Dr. Sanjeev Jain, Dr. Chaddha started his visit from the Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering where he interacted with faculty members Dr. Baijnath Kaushik, Dr. Ajay Kaul, Dr. Naveen Gondi and also with students. 3rd year CSE students Abhishek, Arjun and Vinay explained their projects on drone and 3D motion. Dr. Chaddha emphasized on necessary awareness about Intellectual Property Rights among students. In the Dept. of Electronics and Communication Engineering, he visited Analog Electronics Lab, Communication Lab, Free Scale Lab and Microelectronics Lab and interacted with faculty members, students and Head of the Dept. Dr. K. R. Jha. In the Dept. of mechanical Engineering, he visited Mechanical Vibration Lab, Theory of Mechanics Lab, Fluid Mechanics Lab and Fluid Machinery Lab where he was briefed about the lab activities by the Head of the Dept. Dr. Balbir Singh.
In the Dept. of Biotechnology, he interacted with Dr. Sharda, Dr. Swarkar Sharma, Dr. Preeti Sharma and Dr. Indu Bhushan and visited the Bioinformatics Lab, Tissue Culture Lab, Microbiology Lab, Molecular Biology Lab and Mass Array Lab. Dr. Swarkar Sharma and his team of research scholars Mr. Guvinder Singh, Indu Sharma, Varun Sharma and the Post-Doctoral Fellow Dr. Fareed explained how through the Mass Array lab they have been able to identify certain rare neurological disorders in the local population. In the Dept. of Physics, Dr. Chaddha interacted with the Head of the Department Dr. Yugal Khajuria and faculty members Dr. Jitendra Sharma, Dr. Vinay Dhiman, Dr. Ram Prakash and visited Nano Research Lab, Modern Physics Lab and Condensed Matter Physics Lab. In the Dept. of Architecture and Landscape Design, he interacted with Ar. Anoop Sharma and students of the dept. and was briefed about what new practices are being worked upon by the students, especially about the latest earthquake resistant building techniques. Students also showed their creativity and models prepared by them. Dr. Chaddha was thoroughly impressed and appreciated the quick decision making and encouraging leadership of the Vice Chancellor. Dean Academic Affairs Dr. Sumeet Gupta, Training and Placement Officer Dr. B. K. Bhatia, Head Dept. of Philosophy & Culture Dr. V. K. Tripathi, and Administrative Officer Mr. Vinod Sharma were also accompanying Dr. Chaddha during his visit.
