Workshop on Virtual Labs Conducted at SMVDU in Collaboration with IIT Roorkee

The School of Electronics and Communication Engineering (SoECE) at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, organized a one-day workshop on “Virtual Labs” in collaboration with IIT Roorkee on 27th February 2026. The workshop aimed at bridging the gap between theoretical concepts and practical exposure through the use of virtual laboratory platforms.

The workshop was conducted by Mr. Chetan Dhiman and Mr. Amit Kumar Sharma, Project Associates from the Virtual Labs initiative at IIT Roorkee. They delivered insightful sessions and conducted hands-on demonstrations of various virtual experiments, highlighting how students can effectively utilize the Virtual Labs platform for enhanced learning.

A total of 121 students participated enthusiastically in the workshop. The speakers explained the features of Virtual Labs developed under the National Mission on Education through ICT (NMEICT) initiative of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The sessions helped students understand how virtual experimentation can complement physical laboratory learning.

The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Vikram Singh with support from Dr. Anil Kumar Bhardwaj and Dr. Neeraj Tripathi, who facilitated the smooth organization of the event. The participants appreciated the interactive sessions and gained valuable exposure to modern digital learning tools.

The organizers expressed their sincere gratitude to the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, the Registrar, Director DQA, and all staff and faculty members of SoECE for their encouragement, support, and cooperation in making the workshop a success.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks to the speakers from IIT Roorkee for sharing their expertise and inspiring students to explore innovative approaches to engineering education.
