Vikalp SMVDU Celebrates Children’s Day

Vikalp SMVDU organized an event for Children’s Day Celebration in Sanskriti Kaksh. The event’s theme was “Panchtatva,” i.e., the five elements: Fire, Wind, Earth, Sky, and Water. This event not only brought together the five elements but also the 110 students, faculty members, parents, and our Honourable Vice Chancellor, Prof. Pragati Kumar, who attended the ceremony. The large number of students was filled with energy and was graciously handled by the 50 Vikalp volunteers. The event concluded the four-day-long journey of our students. The first day was dedicated to indoor sports, where each student participated in fun activities related to the elements. The second day’s outdoor sports event continued the theme, with each student participating in the activities for victory. There were various races and sports relating to the five elements, and their usage in an efficient manner was pivotal for their success. The third day was for honing their art and craft skills, and the fourth day was allotted to literary activities such as poems and singing. The event started at 3:00 pm with the first dance performance from the Earth element group, and this grounded performance was followed by some insightful poetry and melodious singing which filled everyone with jubilance. The poetry was followed by the Fire dance in which the students filled the podium with their high-spirited energy. Then the winners from the primary classes were awarded. This felicitation ceremony was followed by a skit in which each student played an elemental. These performances honed the talent of every child involved, breaking the barriers of stage fear. After the drama, a dance was performed by our kindergarten students, which engulfed everyone in their innocence and cuteness. The students from 4th to 12th were awarded next for their achievements in the week-long activities. The medal ceremony was then followed by an onstage yoga performance which involved intricate poses that left every attendee in a state of awe. That performance paved the way for the next two cultural performances in which our students performed Bhangra and Dogri Dance. Then each student was given a Children’s Day gift, and the event concluded with a vote of thanks given by our Faculty Coordinator, Dr. Sumantha Sarathi Sharma. The students were also provided with refreshments. Thus, Children’s Day at Vikalp was full of energy, culture, and passion. All the volunteers and students participated with their full potential to captivate everyone with the wonders and beauty of small things that build up a universe.
