Vice Chancellor, SMVDU, Inaugurates Skill Hub Center, Government-Supported Initiative for Skill Development

SMVDU: Prof. Pragati Kumar, Vice Chancellor, SMVDU inaugurated Skill Hub Centre, SMVDU aimed at promoting skill development and vocational training in the region. Supported by the Government of India, the centre has been equipped with essential training kits, providing students with high- quality resources and practical knowledge. The Skill Hub Centre aligns with key government initiatives, including the PM Vishwakarma Scheme (PMV) and the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), both designed to enhance employability and foster entrepreneurship.

During the launch, Dr. Sanjay Sharma, Coordinator of the Skill Hub Centre, outlined the various benefits of the initiative, emphasizing its potential to bridge the gap between traditional education and industry needs. He highlighted that the centre will play a pivotal role in improving employment prospects by offering hands-on vocational training.

Prof. Pragati Kumar,Vice Chancellor, SMVDU addressed the gathering, urging students, faculty, and participants to seize the opportunities provided. He emphasized the importance of skill development in today’s competitive world and expressed confidence that the Skill Hub Centre, backed by PM Vishwakarma and PMKVY schemes, will equip students with industry-relevant skills. Prof. Kumar underscored the centre’s contribution to not only personal growth but also to the socio-economic development of the region and the nation.

Sh. Ajay Sharma, Registrar, SMVDU, in his message, commended the efforts in establishing the Skill Hub Centre and highlighted the critical role such initiatives play in transforming the academic landscape. He encouraged students to actively engage in the training programs, stressing that skill development is not merely an adjunct to education but a key driver of career success. He also acknowledged the support from the Government of India and reiterated the university’s commitment to providing world-class training and development opportunities for students and the wider community.

Other members present on the occasion included Prof. Balbir Singh, Dean of Academic Affairs, Prof. M. Eswaramoorthy, Er. Deepak Byotra, Workshop Superintendent, Dr. Varun Dutta, Dr. Rajiv Kumar, Dr. Amit Sinha, and other staff members.
