The 17th NEP Orientation & Sensitization Program, an 8-day online training initiative under the aegis of the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC) at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, commenced on 8th September 2025. This program is being conducted as part of the University Grants Commission’s (UGC) efforts to facilitate effective implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 through capacity-building and awareness among faculty across higher education institutions.The inaugural ceremony was marked by an enthusiastic virtual gathering of academic participants and eminent speakers. Ar. Abhiney Gupta, Program Coordinator, formally welcomed the participants and faculty members, setting a collaborative tone for the sessions ahead.This was followed by an address by Prof. Sharda Potukuchi, Deputy Director, MMTTC-SMVDU, who provided an insightful overview of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University and its commitment to academic excellence and NEP integration.Prof. Suparn Sharma, Director, MMTTC-SMVDU, delivered the inaugural speech, wherein he elaborated on the vision of the Malaviya Mission and the pivotal role of NEP 2020 in transforming India’s higher education landscape. He emphasized the policy’s focus on holistic, multidisciplinary, and skill-based education, aimed at fostering innovation, equity, and greater flexibility in teaching methodologies.Prof. Sharma also took the opportunity to extend heartfelt gratitude to Prof. Pragati Kumar, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SMVDU, for his unwavering support, guidance, and encouragement, which have been instrumental in the successful implementation of MMTTC initiatives.The program would comprise of technical sessions by distinguished resource persons and educationists who would delve into various components of NEP 2020, including Holistic Knowledge Systems, Indian Knowledge Systems, Higher Education and Society, Skill Development, ICT and much more.The program aims to sensitize faculty to the paradigmatic shift introduced by the NEP and equip them with practical strategies for implementation in their respective institutions. Over the course participants will engage in interactive lectures, panel discussions, and reflective sessions focused on fostering a learner-centric, inclusive, and future-ready academic environment.The MMTTC at SMVDU continues to play a pivotal role in contributing to national goals by empowering faculty through structured training and development initiatives aligned with the vision of the NEP.
