Thirsty-six students of Biotechnology, SMVD University, Katra of M. Sc. (Sem II) and B. Tech. (Sem VI) accompanied by Dr. Sharada Potukuchi, Associate Prof.; Dr. Ratna Chandra, Assistant Prof.; Dr, Vinod Singh, Assistant Prof. and associated Lab Staff member Ms. Meenakshi Krishen visited various facilities at Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (CSIR-IIIM), Jammu on 17th April 2017. The students got a chance to visit and interact with expert scientists and research scholars in different disciplines where they were demonstrated various experiments in the areas of Plant Biotechnology, Cancer Pharmacology, Value Addition, QCQA and Instrumentation (including the NMR, HPLC) sections. They were introduced to the modern methods of conserving rare germplasm in the Plant Tissue Culture Repository and their preservation in the Herbarium in seed/plant parts/specimen forms. They also had the opportunity to see the various types of experimental mice on which high end experiments related drug testing were in progress in the Animal House. Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine, Jammu is a world class Institute in the area of Natural Products with expertise in all the relevant fields needed for drug development especially Herbal drugs based on traditional systems of healthcare and validated as per modern systems.
