A team of students from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) actively participated in the Agriculture Summit and Kisan Mela 2026 organized by Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST), Jammu. The event brought together academicians, researchers, farmers, startups, and innovators to highlight emerging technologies and progressive practices in the agriculture sector.
A total of 16 students from SMVDU, including 14 from the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department and two from the Electronics Department, represented the university. The students showcased their innovative projects under the theme “AI Powered Advanced Agriculture,” presenting technology-driven solutions aimed at transforming traditional farming practices through artificial intelligence and smart systems.
The student delegation was led by Dr. Sunanda, Head of the School of Computer Science and Engineering, along with Mr. Sudesh Kumar, Assistant Professor, School of CSE.
The participation was strongly encouraged by the Vice-Chancellor of SMVDU, who has consistently promoted experiential learning, interdisciplinary research, and innovation-led societal engagement. His support played a pivotal role in motivating students to present their work on such a prestigious platform.
The successful representation at the Agriculture Summit and Kisan Mela 2026 reflects SMVDU’s continued commitment to research excellence, innovation, and technology-driven solutions for sustainable agricultural development.
