Ms. Nivedika Kher, a final-year student at the School of Electrical Engineering (SoEE) of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, presented her research paper at the 7th International Conference on Computer Applications in Electrical Engineering – Recent Advances (CERA 23). This IEEE event was hosted by IIT Roorkee from October 27th to 29th, 2023. Her paper, entitled ‘Experimental Validation and Analysis of Battery Storage Grid-Connected Converter: A Study with Li-ion and Lead-Acid Batteries’, was developed during her internship at IIT Jammu. The paper discusses a battery storage grid-connected converter, designed for the effective charging and discharging of batteries. The system includes both bi-directional AC-DC and DC-DC converters, enabling power transfer between the grid and the battery. A significant aspect of this paper is the implementation of a hardware setup that mirrors the specifications of the simulated model. Additionally, the paper offers a comparative analysis of Li-ion and lead-acid batteries within a grid-connected system. This research is slated for publication in IEEE Xplore.
