SMVDU Researcher selected for Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Texas at Austin

Dr. Meenu Sharma, a Former researcher at the School of Biotechnology, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, has been selected for the Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the University of Texas at Austin, USA.  She has joined the institution and will be working on Chromosomal rearrangement and genome stability regulation. Dr. Meenu Sharma is the first doctoral student of the Genome Stability Regulation Lab at the School of Biotechnology, SMVDU headed by Dr. Narendra Kumar Bairwa.  It is pertinent to mention that Dr. Meenu Sharma was awarded the FEMS Meeting Grant for Early Young Scientists in 2018 to present her work at the FEMS meeting on “The Non-conventional Yeasts: from Basic Research to Application in Rzeszów, Poland held between May 15-18, 2018.  Dr. Meenu Sharma published her research work in reputed journals and has worked under the supervision of Dr. Narendra Bairwa on the role of the RLM1 transcription factor and F-box protein-encoding SAF1 gene in the regulation of phase transition in Saccharomyces cerevisiae model organism, due to stress. The laboratory of Dr. Narendra Kumar Bairwa is supported by DBT, SERB-DST, and SMVDU and the focus of research is to understand the gene-gene interactions, genome stability regulation, stress response, and screening of small molecules for drug discovery. The Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Prof.  Pragati Kumar, Head, SoBT, Dr. Ratna Chandra, and the Faculty, Staff, and Students of SoBT, SMVDU congratulated Dr. Meenu Sharma and wished her a bright research career ahead.
