The School of Electrical Engineering (SoEE), Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, successfully organized a six-day AICTE-ATAL Online Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Design, Development, and Optimization of Electric Vehicles for a Green Future” from 6th–11th October 2025 under the AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) Academy 2025–26 schedule.
The inaugural session was graced by Prof. Pragati Kumar, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, SMVDU, as the Chief Patron and Inaugurator, and Prof. Madhusudan Singh, Director, IIIT Bhagalpur, as the Chief Guest. In his inaugural address, Prof. Pragati Kumar emphasized the growing significance of electric vehicle (EV) technologies in achieving India’s green mobility goals and highlighted the role of academia in driving sustainable innovation. Prof. Madhusudan Singh delivered the keynote address, offering deep insights into advanced EV research, rapid control prototyping, and optimization techniques shaping the future of e-mobility.
The event began with a welcome address by Dr. Jatinkumar Soni, Co-Coordinator of the FDP and Assistant Professor, SoEE, SMVDU, who warmly welcomed the dignitaries and participants from across India and abroad. Prof. (Dr.) Kumud Ranjan Jha, Coordinator of the FDP and Head, SoEE, encouraged participants to actively engage in the sessions to enrich their technical knowledge. Faculty members of SoEE including Dr. Bhola Jha, Dr. T. Chiranjeevi, Dr. Ankireddy Narendra, Dr. Prabhu Omer, Mr. Shubham Chib, Dr. Kamaldeep, and Mr. Akashdeep also participated and supported the event.

The FDP saw the enthusiastic participation of around 277 participants, including faculty members, research scholars, postgraduate students, and industry professionals. Volunteers from SoEE — Anushka Singh (23bee006), Anushka Pandit (23bee007), Ashwini Jha (24bee007), and Abhijeet Anand (23bee002) — also contributed actively to the smooth conduct of the event. Participants received their certificates upon successful completion of the FDP evaluation on the ATAL portal.
Throughout the six-day programme, participants gained comprehensive insights into EV design, development, and optimization, focusing on advanced topics such as battery management systems, motor drives, charging infrastructure, and green mobility technologies. The FDP provided a valuable platform for knowledge exchange, fostering collaboration between academia and industry to support India’s vision of a sustainable and cleaner transportation future.
The valedictory function, held on 11th October 2025, featured Prof. Ashok De, Bharati Ariaan Chair Professor, Department of ECE, SMVDU, as the Chief Guest, who addressed the participants and appreciated the efforts of the organizers. The event received overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants and was also featured in leading newspapers, highlighting SMVDU’s commitment to advancing research and innovation in the field of electric mobility.
