SMVDU Organise Second Lecture in “From Me to We” Series on Clean Habits, Healthy Communities

Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) organised an awareness lecture on “Clean Habits, Healthy Communities”. The lecture was the second session in the University’s ongoing thematic series titled “From Me to We”, aimed at fostering individual responsibility towards collective well-being. The session was delivered by Dr. Shailla Cannie, Principal and Dean, SMVD College of Nursing, a distinguished academic leader and recipient of the prestigious National Florence Nightingale Award, with over 28 years of experience in nursing education and community health. Addressing the female hostel residents, Dr. Cannie emphasized the importance of personal hygiene, responsible management of shared spaces, and mutual respect as essential elements in nurturing a healthy and harmonious residential community. The interactive lecture focused on strengthening awareness about clean habits, effective community living, and constructive coordination with hostel administration and staff to maintain a safe and supportive campus environment.

All female hostel residents were encouraged to attend and participated enthusiastically in the session. Drawing from her extensive professional experience, Dr. Cannie shared practical insights and real-life examples, emphasising how individual actions collectively shape a sustainable and health-conscious community. The initiative reflected the University’s steadfast commitment to holistic student development, civic responsibility, and the promotion of a safe, inclusive, and hygienic campus ecosystem. The programme was successfully coordinated by Dr. Sonika Gupta, Warden and Associate Dean Students’ Welfare; Ms. Kirti Sindhu, Warden , and Joint Wardens: Dr. Yati Agarwal and Dr. Rashi Taggar. The programme was appreciated for its informative content and practical relevance, reinforcing the importance of sustained efforts in promoting public health awareness, shared accountability, and community well-being. The organisers expressed special gratitude to the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Pragati Kumar, for his continued support and encouragement in facilitating such impactful initiatives. Acknowledgements were also extended to the Dean Students’ Welfare, Prof. Raghvendra Kumar Mishra, for his guidance and facilitation of the programme.
