Awantipora, Kashmir, November 2025:Dr. Sanjay Mohan, Associate Professor, School of Mechanical Engineering, and CEO, SMVDU–Technology Business Incubation Centre (TBIC), participated as an invited panelist in the National Academia–Industry Conclave 5.0, organized by the Centre for Innovation & Entrepreneurship Development (CIED) at the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Kashmir. The event, held on 11 November 2025 at IUST Campus III, featured a high-level panel discussion on “Revival of Tourism in Kashmir: Addressing Challenges in the Current Situation.” The session was chaired by Dr. G. N. Yatoo, Former Director General, School Education Department, J&K.
The panel brought together experts from the District Industries Centre (DIC), Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), and leading startup founders, who shared their insights on the challenges and opportunities in rejuvenating the tourism sector in the region. During the discussion, Dr. Sanjay Mohan apprised the gathering about the various initiatives undertaken by SMVDU and SMVDU–TBIC in supporting entrepreneurship, research, and development across multiple sectors, highlighting the university’s expanding role in promoting regional innovation and economic growth.
The panel further deliberated on current socio-economic challenges, the role of technology, capacity building, and strategies to enhance collaboration between academia and industry. Dr. Mohan emphasized the importance of innovation-driven interventions, policy support, and incubation frameworks in strengthening the tourism value chain in Jammu & Kashmir.
The conclave also featured startup exhibitions, interactive sessions, and the release of the CIED annual report, drawing participation from policymakers, entrepreneurs, and academic leaders.
